Patient Care
Osteoporosis Clinic
The Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic was established in 1994 to provide care and management of patients with osteoporosis, parathyroid disorders, Paget's disease of bone, osteomalacia, renal bone disease and abnormal phosphorus or magnesium metabolism. The clinic staff includes three senior specialists in the metabolic disorders of the skeleton and two registered nurses with more than eight years of experimence with osteoporosis patients. Because osteoporosis is a silent disease without early warning symptoms and presents an increasing risk for fractures of the wrist, spine and hip, all patients receive state-of-the-art bone densitometry examinations including the three skeletal sites most subject to osteoporotic fracture as well as an instant digital vertebral assessment of the entire thoracolumbar spine. With early detection, osteoporosis can be diagnosed and treated before fractures occur.
